Wink News was the first TV station to pick it up and report about it. The Wink News Team did a good job reporting the facts and investigating the reports. Unbiased Lee and without judgement.

Everyone thinks this happens somewhere else Third World Countries, Things like this don't happen anymore in America and is in the past. But yet here we are and it is in my backyard! Effecting me and my community as well as many others.

I personally think the title ABC 7 gave there video is a bit rude and obnoxious. They could have better spent there time Investigating, well going on the report that said there was a very minute amount of red tide suggesting that such low levels are highly unlikely to kill, Or at least in this vast amount of numbers.  And in that suggest that there is likely some other chemical and /or cause in the water too? Now some or the reporting was decent just felt a little rushed.

How about lets look at what causes red tide in the first place. When do they happen? And is there correlation to other events like water releases from dams, lakes and Nuclear power plants?  Hell we have all 3 on this side and that is just one river! Just saying it is funny how the only time we have red tide is when "they" Have "there" Water releases! Have even heard of some blaming Even other factors such as Sugar Plantations, Pesticides, Fertilizers and even yes my friend Yard Chemicals. Just maybe it is a combination of all the above? When these combinations combines fresh-ish "if one can call it that" with saltwater.

A GOOGLE Search Turned up what follows.

Red tide is a phenomenon caused by algal blooms (Wikipedia definition) during which algae become so numerous that they discolor coastal waters (hence the name "red tide"). The algal bloom may also deplete oxygen in the waters and/or release toxins that may cause illness in humans and other animals.

The hypoxic event may be brought on by factors such as algae blooms, droughts, high temperatures and thermal pollution.
